Feature Request:  (2) (1) for Media Center Recording, (1) for .WTV file editing...
I realize the likelihood is low, but here goes: 1). Media center recording is too restrictive, I should be able to specify a timeframe, and not simply a Guide driven program name. Why? I recorded a marathon, having previously set the "start 1 minute early(when possible), end one minute after (when possible). What did I end up with? The tail end of a show missing, with a few seconds, some could argue the most important seconds lost as the recording "left" the previous episode and switched to the subsequent. Could I solve this by switching to start on time end on time? Sure. Unless the broadcaster is running a bit off time (happens more that I ever thought it would). So, my next feature request is tied to this one by necessity... 2). When you create a "proprietary format", please, please provide a stand-alone editor who's function is solely to edit the way I want to edit, not as part of a movie maker. I could have solved my "Missing Moments" by telling Media center to start recording at 9:59AM, and stop at 11:31PM, then using the genuine stand alone editor mentioned in item 2, split the different episodes perfectly, preserving every second of every episode. Instead, when I burn a DVD-RW to play them back, I get all but the last few seconds of the first video as the first "episode", but to see the tail end of that episode, I need to play "episode 2", and when I do, there are missing, sometimes "critical" moments lost in the burn. The solution is NOT to start recording on time every time, since especially (only?) on cable, the programs can be off by up to 5 minutes of what the guide is expecting. And YES, I have my machines configured to sync to internet time servers very regularly, so this isn't a "creeping clock" scenario at play either. WMC is great, the guide is world-class, and the .WTV format offers very high quality recording. Why I am forced to deal with "this is the way we are going to do it for you, no options allowed" makes the whole setup less that perfect, such a shame, so close but yet so far. DAS
